The Background

My name is Andras Kovacs. I live in Budapest and I have been brewing coffee at home with unreasonable attention to detail since 2019. Before that, I drank instant coffee without thinking much about it, which is how most people in Hungary start.

The turning point was a visit to a specialty coffee shop in the seventh district where I watched someone brew a single cup of pour over coffee with a timer, a scale, and a gooseneck kettle. The coffee tasted completely different from anything I had made at home. I asked questions, bought a V60 the next day, and have been experimenting ever since.

What This Site Covers

Telifimala focuses on practical home coffee brewing. The guides cover brewing methods, equipment, and drink recipes. The content is aimed at people in Hungary who want to improve the coffee they make at home without spending a fortune or turning it into a second career.

I do not write about cafe reviews, coffee culture history, or the global coffee industry except where those topics directly affect what happens in your kitchen. The scope is intentionally narrow because there is more than enough to cover within it.

How the Content Is Written

Everything on this site comes from personal experience. I test equipment by using it daily for at least several weeks before writing about it. The brewing methods described here are ones I follow regularly. When I recommend a ratio or technique, it is because I have found that it produces consistently good results in my own kitchen.

I try to be honest about limitations. Pour over is not better than French press in any absolute sense; they produce different kinds of coffee for different preferences. Expensive equipment is not always better than cheap equipment. The point of these guides is to help you make informed decisions, not to sell you things.
